The paint on the city's first ghost bike of the year had yet to dry when a local group of cyclists learned it had to paint another one following a fatal crash Friday that killed William Boudreau.
"Erecting a ghost bike is always a sombre experience," said Michael Kalmanovitch. "And to erect two in one day is a sad day indeed."
Boudreau and his friend, identified as Lawrence, were riding northbound across 110 Avenue on 153 Street on Friday when they were hit by an eastbound pickup truck.
Lawrence was taken to hospital with minor injuries but Boudreau died at the scene.

On Friday night, his family gathered together to remember a hardworking man with a sense of humour. They told Global News that Boudreau was on his way to visit his daughter when the accident happened. He leaves behind a wife and four children.
"He was really close with the kids," said his sister, Danielle Boudreau. "He was always laughing and he was really smart."
Boudreau worked as a private contractor in the water and sewage industry and was planning to return to university to take chemical engineering.
"If I had to remember him for one thing, he was a very funny and outgoing guy," said his son, William Jr.

The collision happened at about noon on Friday at 110th Avenue and 153rd Street. The truck involved belonged to a lawn-care company.
