From Reminder News

William Laramie, a 56-year-old musician, was killed [by the driver of a car] while riding his
bike home from work on Burnside Avenue on Sept.1. Laramie was one of
three cyclists killed in collisions with cars on Burnside Avenue in the
past 18 months.

According to this article:  The driver, Paul Bato, has been charged with illegally operating a motor
vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless
driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian and second-degree manslaughter
with a motor vehicle.

On Burnside Avenue, near the corner of Larabee Street
where Laramie was killed, there is a white bicycle with a sign that
reads "Cyclist killed here."

Linda Piotrowicz, Laramie's partner of seven years, learned about the
bike from a friend, and first went to see it the day before
Thanksgiving. “I hadn't been to the scene of the accident - I couldn't
go back there,” said Piotrowicz. Laramie was about 4 miles from home
when the accident occurred, and Piotrowicz has since relocated.

“I was very moved by it,” she said of the bike. “It meant so much
that someone would do something like that. It really transformed my
Thanksgiving holiday.”
