Eddie Roosevelt Odom was riding on 8th Street at around 11pm on Sunday December 28, 2008 evening when Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer Nathan Barry Long crashed into him with blue lights flashing.
The Times-Union reports Odom, 62, of Jacksonville, was taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital, where he died.
The family of Eddie are still waiting for answers on how he could have been killed as reported in First Coast News:
Odom's sister, Deborah Brabham, says her family is devastated. She says
Odom's bike was his main form of transportation so she doesn't
understand how the accident happened.
"He was well acquainted with the neighborhood. He knew the surroundings," says Brabham. "I don't know what happened."
Odom was the father of five and had 15 siblings.
Meanwhile, Officer Long was not hurt.
The crash is under investigation.
