Patricia Blundon’s family is still hoping that someone will come forward with information about the hit-and-run crash that killed her last month.

“My family needs that closure,” said Megan Wurz. “Not knowing is causing us the most pain.”

They don’t want her death to be forgotten because, to them, her life meant too much.

Blundon, 57, of Oak Creek was killed Aug. 7 while riding her bicycle on County Line Road. She was hit from behind by a vehicle and found lying in a ditch.

Patricia Blundon's family, including her husband, Steven Blundon, and children, Megan Wurz and Ryan Blundon, center, and other family members appeal on Aug. 20 for the motorist who killed Mrs. Blundon in a hit-and run-accident to turn himself in to Caledonia police. Caledonia Police have received more than 70 tips from the public regarding the hit-and-run. Lt. Keith Stannis said they have investigated all of them but have not gotten a substantial lead.

Two weeks after the crash, Blundon’s employer of 20 years, We Energies, offered a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. Since then, Ladish Co. in Cudahy said they would add $5,000 to reward amount. Ladish Co. is where Blundon’s husband, Steve Blundon, works.

A family devastated

Wurz said her father is devastated by the loss of her mom. “They were both supposed to retire in two years,” she said. “They worked hard all their lives. Now he doesn’t know what to do without his best friend.”

The couple would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in August. They were also planning a trip to Germany with friends. In fact, Blundon was out riding her bike the day she was killed in an effort to get in shape for the vacation.

“She loved to travel,” Wurz said. “She was a travel agent and did sales from home. She’d been all over the world. Besides her family, that was probably the biggest passion in her life.”

Steve and Patricia Blundon have two children, Wurz and her brother, Ryan Blundon. They also have two granddaughters, Autumn and Caralyn.

“She was my best friend,” Wurz said. “We did everything together. To know this is unfinished makes me feel like a failure. I feel like this is my duty to my family. We need to find whoever did this, so my mom can rest in peace.”

The family just wants to know what happened during the crash. They don’t understand how Blundon could have been hit on a straight road. There were no brake marks from the crash.

“All we want to know is why it happened,” Wurz said.

She and her family are urging the person responsible to come forward. “We’re here for that family too,” Wurz said.

Police believe the car involved may be a black or dark-colored Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with right front-end damage. The vehicle may also have a broken windshield.

Anyone with information about this hit-and-run crash is asked to contact the Caledonia Police Department at (262) 835-4423.
