Russell Myers was killed on a narrow road by a truck.

A MENTONE father killed in a cycling accident at Mt Eliza had just
qualified as a carpenter and dreamed of building a house for his two
children.
Russell Myers died when a truck struck his bike at Two Bays Rd on March 13.
His partner, Jo Kamp, said Mr Myers, 44, received his carpentry certificate the week he died.
“His dream was to build a house for himself and then, when he met me, us, and each of his kids as well,” Ms Kamp said.
Mr Myers migrated to Australia as an orphan from Zimbabwe.
Possessing a strong sense of community justice, he participated in a
mentoring program for children and cycled around Mexico in 1999 raising
money for cancer research.
He spent about six weeks each year camping, fishing and skiing with
his children, 15-year-old Cory and Bryony, 13, who live in the UK.
Friend John Gould said Mr Myers was a St Kilda Football Club
supporter and recently toyed with the idea of painting a bike in Saints
colours. “He was a big guy in size and personality,” Mr Gould said.
Ms Kamp was to meet Mr Myers at Shoreham for a weekend away.
Before leaving he knocked on a bedroom window to ask for his iPod.
“I actually said safe ride,” Ms Kamp said.
