Andrei was killed by a speeding drunk driver.
The tragedy occurred the evening of 28 September, about 19:00 on the
47th kilometer of the Ring Road. The 28 year old driver of a "Opel Omega" was coming from the direction of the village of Cna
Dolginovsky tract. According to witnesses, he was traveling at a
speed of 140-160 km/hr.
While passing another car on the right, where he crashed into and killed Andrei who was riding his bike dressed in appropriate gear, the bike was also
equipped with reflectors.
The
driver was immediately arrested and suffered only a scratched face. The car belongs
to his brother, he has no job. Medical examination revealed that he was
very drunk (3:57 ppm).
Moreover, in 2010, was stripped of his driver's license for three years for breaking st.18.16 Part 1 of the Administrative Code for drunk driving - Upon
the death of a cyclist prosecuted.
In 2011, six cyclists were killed on the Minsk Ring Road.
