Dave Rodebaugh, was involved in a serious bicycle crash on July 23, 2015. He was brought to the Kings County Hospital
Neurological ICU, in a medically induced coma, after sustaining massive
head trauma, as reported here.  He passed away peacefully in the surround of his parents/grandparents, medical, pastoral teams and many friends according to his obituary.

His friends organized a memorial ride in his honor which rode over the Williamsburg Bridge ending with the installation of ghost bike in his memory and at the place of his crash.

Dave was well known in the NYC cyclist community, including as an experienced BMX shredder. He won the Red Bull Mini Drome race in 2014.

Dave was a member of the LockFootPosi. On the day of his death, they posted on their facebook page:

"Another fallen brother lockfoot famila checkin out today. So many good
rides and rad times. If you ever met this man, you would remember
because he always been keepin it 100. Ride in paradise Dave, dumpin a
keg out for yah today."

This BMX blog posted the following rememberance:

We just received some heartbreaking news that Ohio-native and New York
local David Rodebaugh has passed due to complications from a head
injury. Dave was known throughout the Columbus and NYC circles as a
blatant shredder with a lack of fear and an appetite for speed. Not only
will he be missed in the BMX scene but also in the track bike world,
most notably for winning Red Bull's Minidrome event in Brooklyn last
year. If there's one thing that Dave taught us, it's to live fast and
pedal faster. Rest easy brother.

His friends started a fundraising effort for his care called 'Dave's Not Here Man' which included a fundraiser at a Brooklyn Bar and collection cans at bike shops.

Dave's mom donated his organs, and the next year met the man who benefitted by receiving a face transplant.
