In the early hours of the morning of Thursday, January 20th, Dominik Perez was riding southbound on the Staten Island bound lanes of the BQE, near the Atlantic Avenue exit, when he was struck from behind by two vehicles. He was taken to Long Island College Hospital where he died. How Dominik ended up on the BQE remains a mystery.
In a comment in the Brooklyn Paper article on the crash, one of his loved ones said:
"he was my uncle [and] he was the most loving person in the world... :-( now he is gone"
The drivers of both cars remained on the scene following the crash.
