Age: 60

Location:
Queens Blvd and Northern Blvd
Queens , NY
United States

George Arcarola was riding his bike home from work when he suffered a massive and fatal heart attack

So many of George's friends and fellow riders remembered him on the NYCC message board.

A memorial facebook page was created.

His obituary is pasted below:

George Michael Arcarola

George was born on November 25, 1956 in Manhattan. Son to George and
Theresa Arcarola, brother to Beatrice and Theresa, husband to Theresa,
and father to Jennifer and George. He spent every stage of his life
happily surrounded by Theresas. George attended Archbishop Molloy High
School where he forged lifelong friendships as a member of the track
team and unofficial class clown. George’s love for running was passed on
to both of his children, but especially his son, George, who ran track
in college. George was forever his children’s biggest fan.

George’s family did not end with his immediate relatives. He worked at
Bed Bath and Beyond for over 25 years, making friends and playing pranks
wherever he went. George was a passionate cyclist and a former
president of the New York Cycle Club. He was a teacher, a mentor, a
leader, and a drinking buddy.

When he wasn’t busy cycling every chance he could get, George was an
excellent home cook who enjoyed cooking exciting new things for his
family (and posting a picture of the meal on Facebook). George was a
superb sous chef for his daughter, Jen, with whom he spent countless
hours with in the kitchen; he taught his children their way around the
kitchen as soon as they were old enough to fetch him a beer from the
refrigerator.

George and Theresa were frequent travelers and were forever planning
their next vacation together. They spent years of family vacations with
their children at countless National Parks all over the country, and
have recently traveled all over Europe. Their marriage was full of good
food, wanderlust, and above all else, laughter.

George was truly larger than life and touched the lives of every person
he met. His generous spirit and bellowing laugh will always be
remembered and loved. He will be sorely missed.
