Shaquille Cochrane "Swizzy"

Shaquille Cochrane, also known as 'Swizzy', was close to home riding his bike at night at the corner of Park and E108 when a cab driver crashed into him. The driver was not charged according to DNA Info " police said. No criminality is suspected."  He was pronouced dead at the hospital soon after. 

There are a few different accounts in the media about what happened on that corner. Pictures show Swizzy's bike had rear wheel damage, and the cab had a shattered windshield. It is not clear if the NYPD will investigate the crash further. But it is well known that this is a dangerous place to cross Park Avenue.

We were accompanied by the Ruff Ryders Cycle squad when we brought this bike from Brooklyn to install it the next week. We had seen a small memorial for Swizzy at the place he had been hit a few days before, but it had already been removed.

Team Handsome posted a video on U-Tube in memory of Swizzy, featuring his friends, neighbors and family at the Lincoln Houses, where a memorial was set up for him

A few weeks later, Shaquille's full name was posted on Streetsblog in a post that also said that police will not press charges against the cab driver nor investigate further.
