A 41 year old male cyclist was struck and killed by a hit and run driver on Paynaham road after being hit by another car and trying to get up.  This corner has long been known as dangerous. A few days later, both drivers turned themselves in to police.

According to this article:

 "The cyclist had been riding along Payneham Rd just before 7pm on
Saturday, when he was hit by a red Ford Festiva between Stepney St and
Harrow Rd. The Festiva driver stopped to help but, as the man tried to
sit up, police will allege the driver of a white Triumph Dolomite ran
him over and drove away."

A ghost bike was placed for the cyclist who's name was still unknown in June, 2010.
