COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Hundreds of bike riders were scheduled to gather near the Statehouse Wednesday night for a "Ride of Silence."
They will ride -- silently -- in honor of riders who have been killed on the roads.
Three memorials called "ghost bikes" have been set up around Columbus where riders' lives were lost -- including on Lane Avenue near The Ohio State University campus.
"We belong on the roads," Jeff Stephens of considerbiking.org said. "Bicycles are vehicles and we have a rightful place on the road. We're asking for safe accommodation and some respect."
The "Ride of Silence" begins Wednesday night at 6:30.
