In Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina State, Brazil, two ghost bikes were installed. The first was fixed on August 9th of this year on a road that leads to the Jurerê beach, Florianópolis, as a tribute to Rodrigo Machado Lucianetti, who was participating in a triathlon when he and a friend were hit by a car whose driver was drunk. On September 26th 2008, another ghost bike was fixed on the road that leads to the Canasvieiras beach, Florianópolis. The worker Rodrigo Wilmar da Costa was hit by another drunk driver on his way home. On October 11th 2008, the third ghost bike in the region was fixed in the city of Biguaçu, near Florianópolis, where Esau Roberto de Medeiros was hit by a motorcycle.
