Peter M. Cornell
In memory of Peter M. Cornell, the GhostBike was installed.
Pete Cornell was tragically killed while cycling from Alaska to Key West, Florida. He was killed in Dawson, GA with less than 800 miles left to go.
Pete Cornell, along with two other friends, started their epic ride from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Key West, Florida in the summer of 2011. They finished the first half (Alaska to Edmonton, Canada) that summer. They flew back to Edmonton at the end of June to pick up where they left off and finish in Key West, Florida.
All three cyclists were hit by a semi tractor-trailer in Dawson, Georgia on July 26, 2012. Pete was killed instantly, the other two suffered injuries.
