When we installed this ghost bike on a chilly afternoon in May, several neighbors came by to say they had witnessed the crash and pledged to look after this ghost bike. But no one knew the name of the person fatally struck.
According to Gothamist:
In Far Rockaway, a cyclist was struck and killed by the driver of a
U-Haul truck. According to the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad, the
61-year-old male cyclist, whose name has not been released, was biking
southbound on Bayport Place against the flow of traffic at around 7:20
p.m., when he made a right turn onto Augustina Avenue and hit the
truck's driver side mirror.
