Age: 46

Location:
East 47th St and First Avenue
New York , NY
United States

as reported in the Village Sun "Sept. 16 around 1 a.m., Felix Patricio, 46, from Brooklyn was riding an
e-bike at 47th Street and First Avenue when he went through the
intersection and struck the median. He was pronounced dead from head
trauma."

Felix was a Deliverista - his colleagues installed a ghost bike in his honor at the location where he was killed. Many gathered and played music during it's installation.

bicicleta blanca en honor de los ‘deliveristas’ que mueren en Nueva York
)

After the music band packed their
instruments, Sergio Solano and two other food dealers walked with a
white bike to an elevated pass overlooking the United Nations
headquarters.

A colleague, as they are
called among them, had died less than two weeks ago in early September
in a more crash involving a bicycle on the streets of Manhattan.
Delivery of food at home has proved to be a fatal trade for many of
them. Since they ride a bike at all times, they collide with cars, are
at constant risk of an accident and are in the hunts of criminals.

The spray-painted bike pays tribute to Felix Patricio Teófilo, a Mexican immigrant who, like them, made a living pedalling to to deliver food. The dealers chained the
bike to the railing near the intersection of 47th Street and First
Avenue, where he lost his life.

With
that solemn march through the rain, Solano, 39, concluded an afternoon
of mourning, fulfilling what he has fulfilled what he has come to see as
his mission: to illuminate after death the lives that were relegated to
the shade.

"Let's say we didn't know the point of getting to watch," Solano said. That was never our goal.

Just over three years ago, Solano and some family members who are also dealers created the Deliveryboys Diary in the Big Apple, a Facebook page for practical and informative purposes. (article continues at the above link)
