Jose Flamenco

Jose was riding north in the St. Nicholas bike lane according to investigators before he was found injured on the pavement by responders. He died later of his injuries in hospital.

We installed a ghost bike in his memory mid-block between 165th and 164th street on the east side of St. Nicholas Ave.

Jose Flamenco, 73, was found
lying in the street with serious head injuries near West 165th Street
and St. Nicholas Avenue about 3 p.m. Friday, police announced Tuesday.

Investigators
said the Harlem man has been cycling north on St. Nicholas Avenue when
he lost control of the bike and was thrown to the pavement.

Flamenco was rushed in critical condition to Harlem Hospital then transferred to Bellevue where he died, police said.

Police did not immediately respond to Patch's requests for more information about how Flamenco lost control and when he died.
