Late on a Sunday evening Matthew Brenner
was struck by a driver where the bike path and on-ramp to the BQE run parallel
to each other near the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge.
Though it is unclear what happened and there
are reasons to question reports that suggest that Matthew,
reports suggest that Matthew was traveling against the flow of traffic on the
eastbound side of Sands Street when he was struck.
Sadly, his family and
friends did not know of his crash for several days as he remained unidentified,
even after he passed away at Bellevue Hospital the next morning. Once they did learn of his death, family and
friends held a memorial service on the roof of the building he lived in nearby on

According to Streetsblog, Brenner’s friends are hoping to organize a fundraiser to defray travel
