Age: 13

Location:
Manhattan Ave and west 108 st.
New York , NY
United States

Thirteen-year
old Valding Duran was riding his bike eastward toward Central Park on W. 108th
St. when he was hit by a cab traveling southbound on Manhattan Avenue.  According to the West Side Rag, the boy
suffered severe head trauma among other injuries.

DNAInfo reports he was taken to Harlem
Hospital.  There he was placed on life support, and,
through the NYPD, his family pleaded in a neighborhood paper for neurosurgeon recommendations to get more opinions on his prognosis.  He was taken off life support a week
later on July 28th.

with the original story published by the West Side Rag family, neighbors
and friends, including a former teacher, described a friendly and likable boy
who was full of joy and fun.  He is much
missed by everyone.
